Red Truck Wines Puts Young Artists On The Road

  • July 3, 2007
Sonoma, Calif.-based Red Truck Wines has launched "Red Truck Wines Presents: X-Country A.R.T. Road Trip - Seeing America Through Young Artists' Eyes."

The company is sponsoring the travels of six young artists, who will cross the country in 30 days, recording their thoughts and experiences via writings, photos, paintings, film and blogs. The artists' work will also be posted at redtruckwine.com, with links to other popular internet sites such as MySpace and YouTube.

The artists, all between the ages of 22 and 30, applied for the "positions" through an ad posted by Red Truck Wines on craigslist.org. The six are divided into two groups of three people each. Each group will travel together, one going from Boston to San Francisco and one from San Francisco to Boston. The groups have not been given an itinerary and instead are plotting their own routes, which viewers will be able to follow on Red Truck Wine's website. They are expected to arrive at their destinations on Wednesday, Aug. 1.

Following their 30-day trips, each group of artists will develop a multi-media presentation about their experiences on the road. These "performance art" pieces will be shown in San Francisco at a venue and time to be determined.
