CondeNet Continues Online Video Expansion

CondeNet, the Internet division of Condé Nast Publications, continues to expand its online video offerings, and is adding video tours to its upscale travel site, Concierge.com.

Produced by TurnHere, the "Insider Guides" video series takes visitors on tours through Brazil, Spain, and Italy, highlighting shops and attractions in a style that speaks to Concierge.com's demographic. Under the terms of the agreement, TurnHere will produce a series of 16 two- to-three-minute videos for each city, with possible plans for syndication in the coming months.

"It starts with getting the video on Concierge.com," said Bradley J. Inman, TurnHere's co-founder and CEO. "But video is so transportable, so we're working with [CondéNet] in terms of syndicating and distributing their content."

One distribution method may be via RSS, as TurnHere recently announced a partnership with Pheedo to track and deliver its video modules through RSS feeds.

"We're actively in a handful of discussions to have video travel off our site," said Richard Glosser, executive director of emerging media, CondéNet. "Condé Nast has affiliates around the world, and we'll translate and serve video content wherever our partners have the ability to embed it. We'll even work to have advertisers follow the content to other sites."

Current CondeNet ad partners include Guess, Bertolli and Samsung, with ad formats ranging from rich media banners to pre- and post-roll splash pages to whole page sponsorships.

The Concierge.com "Insider Guides" initiative is one in a series of recent video additions to CondeNet's Web properties, which include Style.com and Epicurious.com.

"We produced as many videos in the first six months of this year as we did in all of last year," said Glosser.

According to CondéNet estimates, the trio of sites host more than 1000 segments of rich media and video content combined.
