AT&T Debuts Ad-Backed 800-YellowPages

  • September 11, 2007
AT&T expanded a directory assistance service on Monday called AT&T 1-800-YellowPages that gives consumers free access to business listings, and provides advertisers with an opportunity to reach consumers as they make buying decisions.

California debut the service in July. Now AT&T has made it available in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee after a three-city trial proved successful.

The service enables callers to receive a listing for businesses or category of business at no cost. Callers will hear short audio ads before receiving the number--or, when available, before being connected directly to the business that they select.

The service gives local and national advertisers several options to reach consumers: category ads, requesting listing ads, redirect ads, and sponsorship ads. The service is accessible from any landline and wireless phones.
