Cable company RCN Corp. said it had launched HDTV service in Washington, D.C., Lehigh Valley, Pa., Boston and Manhattan. RCN's HDTV service has more than 10 channels, including the high-definition
television broadcast by local affiliates of ABC, NBC, Fox and PBS. HBO HD and Showtime HD are available to subscribers of those premium networks. It also offers ESPN's new HDTV channel, which will
bring coverage of 100 professional games in four major sports this year.
