Yahoo Buzz Upgrades Feature Widget, RSS Feeds

  • May 2, 2008
Yahoo on Thursday announced some new features for Yahoo Buzz, the social news service it launched in February. The upgrades include a "Top Buzz" widget that Web publishers can embed on their sites to display the top articles on Yahoo Buzz, or by category.

Also added are RSS feeds for the top Buzz stories, as well as within specific categories, and "First Buzzed By" indicators--taglines showing who was first to submit an item and a listing of articles someone has voted for previously.

While still in beta testing, Yahoo Buzz has sent 50 million referrals to a select group of online publishers including The Wall Street Journal, People and Us Weekly. The service that competes with Digg.com and other social news offerings has also recently added sites including AskMen.com, ThePanelist.com and VentureBeat to the beta program.
