CNN.com Mixxes It Up

  • May 8, 2008
CNN.com will syndicate content to social news service Mixx through a new deal that lets Mixx users add the network's headlines and stories to their own blend of news, information and video.

Under the deal, CNN.com will add a "Mixx It" button after each article on the site to add a story to the Mixx platform. While people can bypass registration to browse Mixx content, they still have to sign up to save a story or create a personal Mixx page.

The deal could provide a big audience boost to the social startup that launched last October and competes with Digg.com. In March, The New York Times site added Mixx to its roster of social bookmarking services that also includes Digg, Facebook and Yahoo Buzz.

Still, Mixx has a ways to go to catch Digg. The social news challenger had 68,000 unique visitors in March, compared to 6.1 million for Digg.
