  • StarLink Worldwide, a unit of Starcom MediaVest Group, has added ALLISON BARNES, vice president and media director to the company. Barnes will oversee clients including American Laser Centers, Cole Taylor, Colby and Partners (Suzuki), Score! Education Centers, and Hewitt, to name a few. She will guide supervisors in managing their portfolio and direct client assignments and will develop and monitor 2004 group business plans. In addition, Barnes will aid in the integration effort with the newly transitioned StarLink IP team.

  • MediaCom U.S. has promoted ANNE ELKINS from senior vice president to executive vice president, director of local broadcast. In her current position, she oversees 45 buyers and market specialists. Prior to that, Elkins supervised several pieces of business within MediaCom's national broadcast buying group including GlaxoSmithKline, Hasbro, Reebok, Slim-Fast, Upjohn and Warner Bros.

  • LEE ANN DALY has been promoted to executive vice president, marketing at ESPN. Daly will continue to oversee the development, direction and implementation of all branding, creative services and marketing for ESPN's media businesses, encompassing television, print, radio, the Internet and all outdoor advertising. She is also responsible for the company's synergy efforts, recently expanded to include project management for ESPN-branded business activities supported by The Walt Disney Company, including the ESPN Zones. Most recently, Daly was ESPN's senior vice president, marketing.

  • Horizon Media has promoted DAVID CAMPANELLI to director of national broadcast and MAJA MIJATOVIC to manager of national radio. Previously national broadcast senior buyer, Campanelli began his media career as an assistant buyer at Horizon six years ago. Mijatovic previously served as national radio senior buyer, and began her media career when she joined Horizon Media in October 1998.

  • National Cable Communications, a spot cable advertising rep firm, has named ANNIE MCGUIRE as senior vice president of sales. McGuire will oversee the day-to-day operation of NCC's sales division, along with the company's political sales and sports sales units. Most recently, McGuire worked at Greater Media in Boston, where she spent the past four years as vice president/director of sales.

  • SendTec Inc., the parent company of DirectNet Advertising (DNA), Creative South and iFactz, has hired SHANI REARDON as media director, and TIMOTHY DALY as director of marketing and strategy. Reardon will manage SendTec's media buying and planning department. Prior to her role at SendTec, Reardon spent eight years as director of marketing & customer service at Hoveround Corporation. Daly will be responsible for implementing innovative business development and marketing programs for SendTec's clients. Prior to joining SendTec, Daly was an independent marketing consultant. Additionally, STEVEN MORVAY has been named managing director at the company. Morvay will work with SendTec clients Real Networks and Tickle on the creation and implementation of marketing and business development programs. Morvay will also lead the company's business development initiative out of New York.

  • Gardner Nelson & Partners announced that ROBERT SOLOMON has joined the company to create a direct response division under the name Gardner Nelson Solomon. Solomon was most recently CEO of Rapp Collins New York, and previously was president of direct & interactive marketing at Ammirati Puris Lintas.

  • Search Engine Marketing company icrossing has hired SHARON SMITH as senior director of business development. Smith will manage icrossing's Business Development teams in New York and Scottsdale, Arizona. Most recently. Smith was vice president of account management for 24/7 Real Media.

  • Meredith Corporation announced that HILARY VARTANIAN has been named national sales manager of Ladies’ Home Journal magazine. Vartanian will be responsible for overseeing all advertising sales functions in Meredith’s New York and San Francisco offices for the magazine. Most recently, Vartanian served as the Eastern corporate sales director for Meredith Corporate Solutions, where she was responsible for developing multi-platform programs across broadcast, book publishing, database marketing, custom publishing, interactive and magazine groups.

  • Market research company NOP World announced that JIM FOLLETT, COO, will assume overall management responsibilities for its New York-based global operations. He takes over leadership of NOP World from SIMON CHADWICK, who will be moving on to start a consulting company. Follett has served as COO of NOP World since July of 2003.

  • Nielsen Entertainment has named ADRIENNE BECKER to the position of senior vice president, development and communications. Becker will focus on new business opportunities and oversee all components of integrated communications for the business. Prior to joining Nielsen Entertainment, Becker was CEO of DailyCandy, Inc., the information, lifestyle and culture guide sold last year to The Pilot Group.

  • BBDO Detroit announced that GARY TOPOLEWSKI has been named co-chief creative officer at the agency. He will work with BILL MORDEN on all three of the agency’s Chrysler Group brands (Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep). Topolewski was most recently chairman and chief creative officer at Chemistri, the Publicis agency dedicated to serving General Motors business.

  • Weather.com has promoted RUSS BLEY to sales director for the Detroit territory. Previously, Bley served as an account manager in the company's Chicago office. Additionally, DAN MAUCH has joined the company as sales director of its West Coast region. Mauch comes to weather.com from USA Today and USAToday.com, where he most recently served as director of advertising sales for website.

  • The Advertising Educational Foundation has elected KEN KAESS, president & CEO at DDB Worldwide, as its new chairman. He succeeds DAVID BELL, chairman & CEO at the Interpublic Group of Companies.

  • Marketing Management Analytics, Inc. (MMA) has named JOHN NARDONE as EVP, product development and marketing and ED SEE, as EVP product development and technology. Nardone and See will be instrumental in accelerating MMA's established offerings in real-time marketing planning, including forecasting, media and promotion optimization and business planning support.

  • Barry Group has promoted RUTH ANN WAGNER to production/ traffic manager. Wagner has served as the agency’s media buyer since 1997. In her new role, she will handle all project scheduling and estimating as well as manage all agency- vendor relationships.

  • Rockett, Burkhead & Winslow has promoted PETER AGIOVLASSITIS to vice president, director of media services. In his new position, Agiovlassitis will continue to lead the media strategies, program development and account management for RBW's healthcare, consumer and technology clients. He joined RBW in July 2003 after serving as vice president/media director at French/West/Vaughn.

  • JOSH FELLER has joined Quigo Technologies as director of sales for AdSonar, and JACLYN GOODSTADT has joined the company as account manager for AdSonar. Feller will be responsible for adding new publishers to the company's contextual network. Goodstadt will focus on bringing in new advertisers to the contextual advertising network. Additionally, KRISTEN FREER has joined the company as the director of client strategy. In this position, Freer will be responsible for architecting and optimizing the strategy behind client campaigns.

  • interTrend Communications, Inc. has named TANYA RAUKKO as director of strategic planning of the full-service advertising agency. In addition, ALYSSA HU has been named assistant account executive. Raukko comes to the agency from NextLeft, where she served as a strategy manager. Hu was previously a feature editor with Marie Claire Taiwan/China Times Weekly.

  • BigSplash, the search and agency services unit of Markettrix, Inc. has named JIM CLARK as the director of East coast sales. Prior to joining BigSplash, Clark was director of strategic sales for FAME Information Services, a market data solutions provider.

  • Keiler & Company, an integrated advertising and marketing agency in Farmington, Conn., has promoted GREG ROSE to management supervisor on the agency’s Lockheed Martin account. Rose joined Keiler & Company in 1988.

  • Epsilon, a relationship marketing company, has named STEVEN ROTH to the newly-created position of chief privacy officer. Roth will spearhead Epsilon's privacy policies and practices, strengthen Epsilon's ability to support clients' consumer privacy protection efforts, as well as help increase public awareness of the company's role in these areas. Roth will continue in his position as Epsilon's vice president, CRM strategy and planning.

  • BILL WIEMANN, formerly director, strategic accounts for StudentAdvantage, has formed Q1Media.com and will serve as its president and director of online media sales.
