Volkswagen America CEO Jonathan Browning said the German automaker is making image part of its goal to building share in the U.S. Browning said that while the automaker has a heritage in the U.S.
with vehicles like the Microbus and Beetle, "somewhere along the way, we lost our bearings." He said the company wants to remake VW from off-beat and niche to a high-volume competitor to brands like
Toyota, Ford, Chevrolet and Honda.
