Clear Channel Teams Up With Liquid Compass

  • September 3, 2003
Answering the call to provide radio listeners with the ability to access their favorite radio station at work or at home, Liquid Compass and Clear Channel enter into a nationwide streaming media agreement to allow listening access to radio stations via the web. Faced with high royalty and bandwidth fees, most of Clear Channel's network of radio stations were forced to stop streaming at the beginning of the year. In its search to find a more cost effective solution, Clear Channel came across a Denver-based creative media provider, Liquid Compass (www.liquidcompass.net), who was able to offer a competitive bandwidth package, while also providing a more user-friendly, customizable media player solution that included ad insertion capabilities for each Clear Channel radio station. Using Liquid Compass' media manager tools in conjunction with Spacial Audio's (www.spacialaudio.com) SOS3 (streaming overlay software), Clear Channel radio stations are able to schedule and manage streaming commercials as they normally would during a terrestrial broadcast; separating each commercial by timeframe, priority level and day-part. Each commercial is then inserted into the live stream, covering commercial spots that would normally be heard on the radio.
