Say What? Hearst Taps Digital 'Native' To Run Digital Mag Group

Hearst Magazines has hired a digital native -- literally -- to run its digital media operations. Troy Young, who has been president of digital native ad format developer Say Media, is joining as president of Hearst Magazines Digital Media, which is responsible for Hearst's 26 online brands, He reports to Hearst Magazine's President David Carey. Prior to Say Media, Young was Chief Experience Officer of Omnicom's Organic unit. He has also held board and advisory roles with a number of digital media, mobile and commerce companies, including Refinery29 -- the digital media and e-commerce Web site in which Hearst is an investor -- BuzzMedia (now Spinmedia), a digital publisher of pop culture and music brands, and ticketing and e-commerce platform CrowdSurge.
