Corporate and consumer investment will boost anti-spyware revenue from $12 million in 2003 to $305 million in 2008, according to an IDC report released on Wednesday. A recent study conducted by
anti-spyware provider Webroot Software reported that 82 percent of respondents said that their desktops have been infected. Spyware--a.k.a. adware, malware, and scumware--carries with it the potential
of having online activity tracked, and information and identity stolen, which can then be sold back to anyone willing to pay for it.
