Conde Nast Traveler's Exec Editor Exits After 6 Months

Condé Nast Traveler’s executive editor Peter Jon Lindberg has stepped down after taking on the role just six months ago, causing a shuffle in the magazine’s editorial line-up.

Traveler deputy editor Candice Rainey has been named executive editor in his place.

Before joining Traveler, Rainey was deputy editor for Details. She also worked at Elle for six years and GQ for four years.

Articles editor Lauren DeCarlo has been named deputy editor. Before joining Traveler, DeCarlo was a freelance writer and editor. Her work has appeared in New York, ElleDecor.com, Lucky and WWD.

Traveler has also named Alexandra Postman features director. She was previously Whole Living’s editor in chief. Most recently, she served as a contributing editor at Traveler, and before that, she worked at Condé Nast sister magazine Self as deputy editor.

Lindberg will continue to contribute to the magazine when he returns to his freelance career after leaving his position. He was hired as executive editor last October. Prior to that, he served as a contributing international editor and senior correspondent.

Previously, Lindberg was the editor at large for almost 15 years at rival travel magazine Travel + Leisure.

The editorial changes will take effect starting April 15.

Lindberg is married to Nilou Motamed, who became editor of Time Inc.’s Food & Wine in March. Motamed also spent over a decade at Travel + Leisure, where she was features director and senior correspondent.
