Email testing company Litmus has expanded its email application to sync with two popular email software providers (ESPs)--MailChimp and Campaign Monitor.

Litmus Builder, the company’s email building and testing platform, now syncs with MailChimp and Campaign Monitor to streamline workflows and save designers’ time and resources.

With one click, email designers can automatically sync their templates or campaigns in Litmus Builder to MailChimp or Campaign Monitor. Litmus Builder will automatically compile the HTML code to upload a finalized email version to the ESP, including swapping out image URLs in favor of the final artwork.

Any edit made in Litmus Builder will also automatically update within the ESP, but it’s important to note that the integration is not bi-directional so any edit made within MailChimp or Campaign Monitor will not be synced to Litmus Builder.

Litmus is a well-known marketing testing company that specializes in optimizing email marketing campaigns and websites to be viewable and actionable on any device.

Rendering campaigns for mobile devices is an ever-increasingly critical component of email marketing, especially considering the rise in mobile email use. A third of all email-driven revenue this year originated from a mobile device according to a recent study by Lifecycle Marketing’s cross-channel platform Yesmail360.

Mobile also experienced a 37% year-over-year growth in email-driven revenue and a 50% increase over the past two years, according to the report.

Many email designers develop their email campaigns outside of the platforms from which they send their emails, especially if coding is involved. 

“For most email geeks, that means you need to take your HTML and upload it into your ESP, adding several steps to your email production workflow before you can actually click the send button,” writes Kevin Mandeville, content designer at Litmus, in a blog post announcing the upgrade.  “We decided that wasn’t good enough for Litmus Builder users.”

As of now ESP Syncing on Litmus Builder is only available to customers of MailChimp or Campaign Monitor, but Litmus says that compatibility with additional ESPs is in their product roadmap.
