FBI Told Illinois GOP About Email Hack Back in June

The FBI told the Illinois Republican Party in June that some of its email accounts may have been hacked. However, according to the state GOP's executive director, party officials weren't aware of the federal investigation of Russian activity into the hacking. The state had identified 18 of its emails on the website DCLeaks.com. At the time, The New York Times had reported that U.S. intelligence officials believed that the site was created by a unit controlled by the GRU, Russia's military intelligence agency.
