Content-Syndication Provider Nordot USA Teams Up With Sony News Suite For Expanded Reach

Sony News Suite, the free news app created for Android users and installed on 60 million Android devices across more than 70 countries, has selected Nordot USA, a provider of content syndication and other solutions for publishers, as its official tech and monetization partner.

The partnership allows Nordot’s content library to be integrated into Sony News Suite.

Nordot’s  client roster includes such major news syndicators as Reuters, Deutsche Presse-Agentur, and Agence France-Presse. The company’s network includes more than 2,000 publishers in more than 71 countries.

Nordot also enables hyper-local publishers to access global stories -- and, conversely, allows insightful local stories to obtain global distribution. Source publishers earn fees from Nordot, and keeps advertiser cost-per-click payments. Nordot says that on average, smaller publishers make around $10,000 annually from Nordot.

The Nordot dashboard also shows publishers how their stories are performing on the source site and across the platform.

Ultimately, Nordot’s content library brings a significant boost to Sony News Suite’s global news app by fueling delivery of new content for a variety of markets.

The Sony app features a two-tab system that delivers general news organized by genre, and a customizable “My Feeds” tab where users can view news stories organized by genres of their own choice, including entertainment, sports, business, food, and technology.

“Nordot enables us to access premium content rapidly, and easily, for Sony News Suite,” said Sony Network Communications General Manager Yoshinori Taniwaki. “We can enhance news content specific to a region and gain greater market share for our app, while enhancing the content experience for our Xperia [Sony’s own cell phone] as well as Android users.”

And Nordot USA COO Aya Uryu said Nordot enhances Sony’s content library by plugging in hundreds of sources, while ensuring the cleanest user experience. "The incentives are truly aligned for both companies: We enable Sony to find better content and they provide a massive mobile user base for our partners’ content,” she says.
