Comic Sarah Silverman Sues OpenAI Over Alleged Infringement

Author and comedian Sarah Silverman and authors Christopher Golden and Richard Kadrey are suing OpenAI and Meta over alleged copyright infringement.

The suits charge that OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Meta’s LLaMA were trained on illegally-acquired datasets containing their works, according to The Verge.

These datasets were acquired from “shadow library” websites like Bibliotik, Library Genesis, Z-Library, and others, the Verge continues.

According to The Verge, Golden and Kadrey declined to comment, while Silverman’s team did not respond by press time.

The authors claim that they “did not consent to the use of their copyrighted books as training material” for the companies’ AI models.
