Journalist/Historian Jeffrey H. Brodsky Dies At 49

Jeffrey H. Brodsky, journalist, historian and namesake of Columbia University’s Jeffrey H. Brodsky Oral History Award, has died at age 49 of an aggressive form Parkinson’s disease.  

Brodsky established the Brodsky Prize, a college scholarship for high school journalists, in 2018.

According to the New Hampshire Union Leader,Brodsky started his career as a reporter and editor on the Central High School newspaper in Manchester, New Hampshire.

In that role, Brodsky interviewed all nine candidates for the 1992 presidential race, including Bill Clinton. 

Brodsky also interviewed Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, Israeli President Shimon Peres, Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, U.S. Sen. Bob Dole, New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, New York City Mayor David Dinkins, Newark Mayor Cory Booker and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the Union Leader continues.
