Film Critic Anthony Lane Expands His Portfolio At 'The New Yorker'

New Yorker film critic Anthony Lane is expanding his range of subjects after three decades to cover all of the arts and whatever else appeals to him in essays and reported pieces, editor-in-chief David Remnick announced in a staff memo.

In addition, Justin Chang, who has been serving at the Los Angeles Times, will join The New Yorker as a film critic, effective Feb. 12. Chang will remain based in Los Angeles.  

Richard Brody,  the author of “Everything Is Cinema,” a biography of Jean-Luc Godard, will continue to cover film for The New Yorker across all platforms, Remnick adds.
