Volvo Gets Sirius

  • August 9, 2006
Volvo announced Tuesday that it will begin offering Sirius Satellite radio sets as an option on various 2007 models this summer. Consumers will be able to select Sirius sets on the S40, V50, C70, and S80 models. The announcement comes after mixed second-quarter earnings results from both Sirius and competitor XM. Sirius has been gaining steadily on XM over the last year in number of subscribers--although it still lags behind XM, 4.7 million to 7 million. Both satellite companies are also struggling with very high expenses, due in part to a high average cost for acquisition of new subscribers.
