Digital music service PassAlong Networks is starting a new mobile division that will extend its Internet applications to cell phones and other devices. Among the first mobile offerings will be its
OnTour service, which allows PassAlong registrants to find local concerts featuring favorite artists from their digital music libraries. OnTour also enables users to buy tickets online, and provides
directions to concert venues. The company will roll out more mobile applications over the next month. PassAlong, which runs eBay's digital download site, sells technology for setting up online music
stores. Its P2P software rewards users for "passing" along links to favorite songs or playlists. Whenever someone buys a song derived from that link, the original consumer earns points toward
additional music from the PassAlong store.
