Adware Company Settles FTC Charges

Adware company Enternet Media late last week agreed to pay $2 million to settle charges brought by the FTC. Enternet also agreed to an injunction prohibiting the company from installing ad-serving software in consumers' PCs. The company had gained notoriety among spyware and adware watchdogs for allegedly distributing SearchMiracle/EliteBar--an application that contains code allowing it to "hide" on users' computers and evade spyware removal programs.
