Katz Taps MacCortney As EVP, Ad Relations

TV and radio rep firm Katz Media Group has tapped a top rival executive to serve in the new position of executive vice president of agency and advertiser relations. Former Blair Television president Leo MacCourtney will mainly work in the new business arena, looking to generate more national spot dollars for the station groups Katz represents.

MacCourtney will serve in a sort of emissary role to the spot-buying community.

"I am excited to have someone of Leo's caliber join our team in this critical role," said Jim Beloyianis, Katz Television Group president. "Leo will help us expand by developing national business for our local station groups and explore new ways to capitalize on our multiplatform programs."

Clear Channel unit Katz is comprised of Continental Television Sales, which serves station groups that operate in smaller markets, Eagle Television Sales, representing station groups operating in major markets, and Millennium Sales & Marketing.

"I am delighted to join a company with Katz's extraordinary history and reputation," said MacCourtney. "I am looking forward to helping the company achieve its goals by using the competitive advantages of its size, people and commitment to delivering superior client service."

The smaller Blair represents some 150 clients in the broadcast area, according to the company.
