BURST! Adds COPPA Security

  • May 6, 2002
BURST! Media, a provider of Internet ad services for web publishers, has announced adoption of additional procedures to make it easier for advertisers to comply with the 1998 Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). BURST!, collaborating with the 2,300 publishers in its network, established permanent procedures for identifying any websites with content or data collection procedures that may target pre-teens. By cataloging specific sites, using available demographic information, and implementing their own practices, BURST! can better assist advertisers in navigating the evolving areas of COPPA compliance. To ensure that all the 2,300 BURST! network properties were properly evaluated, each site was given the opportunity to classify themselves, with BURST! auditing all responses. Sites that did not issue their own classification were manually reviewed and categorized by BURST! The new COPPA review process will be added to existing Member Evaluation procedures.
