Google Sites Draw Most Traffic, Per Nielsen Online

Web sites owned by Google drew the most traffic in October, attracting a total of 120.7 million unique visitors, according to Nielsen Online. Microsoft-owned sites, including MSN, followed closely with 119.6 million, while Yahoo sites amassed an audience of 110.4 million.

Among online advertisers, comparison shopping site NexTag Inc. was the top-ranked, spending $53.3 million on online ads during October. Financially troubled mortgage lender Countrywide Financial Corp. placed second, with $45.8 million in online ad spending, followed by InterActiveCorp. at $38 million. Other top spenders in October included NetFlix ($36.8 million), Experian Group Ltd. ($33.7 million) and AT&T Corp. ($21.5 million.).
