Aegis Acquires Apollo, Expands Presence Down Under

Even as Havas Chairman-CEO Fernando Rodes Vila renewed speculation this week that Aegis Group might be an acquisition target, the U.K.-based agency holding company announced a new acquisition of its own. Aegis this morning said it acquired Apollo Group, the largest independent promotional marketing agency in Australia and New Zealand. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Apollo's assets were valued at $3.5 million. During this week's UBS media conference in New York, Havas' Rodes Vila said merger talks had cooled with Aegis Group, but implied that given recent lower share prices of Aegis stock, that it might make sense for the shareholders of both companies to "study" a merger.
