New Chief For MPA Council

  • November 12, 2002
The Magazine Publisher of America (MPA) has named John Lively, President & CEO of The Taunton Press, as the new Chair of the Smaller Magazine Advisory Council. The SMAC was founded in 1991 to give smaller and middle-market magazine companies a stronger voice within the larger MPA community. The council helps to ensure that the resources of the association are as relevant for smaller magazines. In 1988 Lively became the publisher of both Fine Woodworking and Fine Homebuilding magazines, stations he held until 1993, when he became vice president and editor-in-chief of the company. Among Lively’s accomplishments, he directed the editorial development of Fine Cooking, and served as publisher of the magazine for one year prior to being named CEO and successor to Taunton founder Paul Roman in 2000.
