Primaries Dominated Cable, Fox Dominated Broadcast

The national presidential primary night played a huge role on the cable news networks on Tuesday night, while broadcast networks scored results for their entertainment shows--make that mostly Fox's shows.

With "American Idol" and "House," Fox dominated the night with a double-digit 10.1 rating among 18-49 viewers. NBC was well down the list in second place, at a 2.8/7. Then came a surprising Univision, which tied CBS tied for third at 1.5/4. ABC was fifth at 1.4/3, and CW sixth at 1.0/2.

"Idol" took its usual healthy 11.2 rating at 8 p.m. and "House" earned a 9.0--which highlighted Fox's Tuesday night.

NBC offered up little competition--although better than anyone else-- a 2.8 for it first half of "The Biggest Loser" and a 3.5 for "Loser"'s second hour at 9 p.m.

Two other 2.0-plus rated shows aired on the night--Univision grabbed third place at 9 p.m. with a 2.0 for "Al Diablo con los Guapos" and a 2.1 for NBC's primary coverage at 10 p.m. CBS had a 1.8 for a repeat of "NCIS" at 9 p.m. ABC followed with a 1.2 for the first of three hours of "Super Tuesday-Showdown: Coast to Coast."

NBC won the time period with a 2.1 for its primary coverage at 10 p.m. ABC followed with a 1.4, and CBS with a 1.3.
