Through an exclusive deal with security software firm McAfee Inc., Yahoo Search will alert users to sites that may contain spyware, adware and other malicious software that could damage their computers.

By integrating McAfee's SiteAdvisor technology, the new SearchScan feature eliminates sites from search results that might infect computers just by visiting them. It also flags potentially risky sites, including those known for spamming e-mail in-boxes, with a red warning message.

Yahoo's multi-year, global agreement with McAfee also includes bringing Yahoo Search to McAfee users in the next few months.
