"The Electric Company" returns to PBS in January 2009. Targeted to 6- to-9-year-olds, the new version of the show carries the same goal of the original: combating the literacy crisis facing America's
second graders. The 2009 version is a multimedia, multi-platform effort, furthering the idea that "reading is cool." Weekly episodes will be supplemented with an interactive online environment, as
well as community-based outreach activities taking place in 20 cities nationwide.
