Chevrolet is preparing to launch a new compact car to be called Cruze. The vehicle will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in early October, per the company.

The car, part of GM's global platform for small cars, and the first vehicle to evince Chevrolet's forthcoming global design language, will be sold first in European markets starting in Spring 2009, followed by other global regions.

It will come to the U.S. mid 2010 as the 2011 model, replacing the Chevy Cobalt, which inhabits a slot between the sub-compact Aveo and the mid-sized Malibu sedan.-Karl Greenberg
