I know this doesn’t fall under the interactive umbrella, but I thought it was worth reporting on anyway. No, not that Bill Clinton is thinking of doing his own talk show. I’ll leave that one alone until he has an ad-supported website. I’m talking about the announcement made this morning by Ogilvy & Mather, Triton Systems and ConvenienTV, who recently conducted a series of exit interviews at several ATM sites.

Here’s a reality check for all those who said rich media was a fad - Nielsen//NetRatings today released a report that says traditional companies comprised nine out of the top 10 rich media advertisers in Q1 2002.

Despite its own obscure future, Jupiter Media Metrix is optimistic about the future of the online ad industry as a whole. The company today released a report predicting that online classified ads will grow faster than any other form of online advertising this year in the U.S.

First, a piece of some good news that is not directly related to online advertising, but worth reporting nevertheless. The Commerce Department reported today that the economy, after limping through the last six quarters, rocketed back in the first quarter, growing at an annual rate of 5.8%. And staying on the happy side of things ....

Good news on the horizon! In The North America eCommerce: B2C and B2B Report, just released, eMarketer projects that internet-based e-commerce in the US will increase by more than 57% this year to reach $482 billion by year-end 2002.

First, a quick update: Yahoo! has settled the $5 million lawsuit with Wylie Gustafson – the yodeler who claimed the company used his trademark yodel in ads without his consent. Terms of the out-of-court settlement were not disclosed, but Yahoo! said it would continue to use the yodel in its advertising and marketing materials. That said, on to broadband.

A few weeks ago, Avenue A quietly held an invitation-only client summit in Las Vegas, where the interactive agency unveiled a “new competitive approach to online marketing.” They called it “Digital Nirvana.”
