Despite the aborted merger with NetRatings and forecasts of an uncertain future, Jupiter Media Metrix today introduced a new service - Campaign Analysis. According to the announcement, it is a third-party service that measures and analyzes online advertising and marketing campaigns in real time.

Looks like everyone’s hopes of having to deal with just one set of Internet traffic numbers have been lost. NetRatings and Jupiter Media Metrix announced today that they would not be merging after all.

The AAAA Media Conference is adjourned and as far as the majority of the attendees are concerned, it was three days well spent.

The first and most important day of the AAAA media conference began today with Conference Chair Allen Banks outlining some of the most pressing issues facing the advertising industry, such as clutter and inaccurate data. While Banks offered no immediate solutions, he did introduce the morning’s keynote speaker: AOL Time Warner’s Bob Pittman, who gave the audience a basic overview of the Internet’s power as a Customer Relationship Management tool.

The Olympics may not have done much advertising online, aside from two email blasts with streaming video content to its NBCi list, complete with a cool video illustrating the events it will be televising, but according to Nielsen//NetRatings daily overnight analysis, traffic to the two official Winter Olympic sites, NBCOlympics.com and Olympics.com, soared during this past weekend.

Well, the Olympics are starting tonight, but I have to admit I haven’t seen any Olympics-related ads on the web. Have you? Compared to the weeks leading up to the SuperBowl, when the web was flooded with information and ads about Superbowl.com and the official NFL websites, there’s really been very little promoting the Olympics online.
