Mercedes Takes Over Smart, Creates Team

Mercedes-Benz USA has launched a dedicated sales for sales, marketing and distribution of Smart vehicles in the U.S. market. The company has taken over the brand of two-seaters from Penske.   The team, led by general manager will be Tracey Matura (who will report to Michael Slagter, VP of sales for MBUSA) will be part of a new subsidiary of MBUSA called Daimler Vehicle Innovations USA LLC.     Reporting to Matura are Julia Knittel, manager of Smart marketing and brand management; Sean Lyons, manager, Smart sales and aftersales. Lyons most recently held regional management positions at Lexus.   Deirdre O'Grady will be smart dealer network lead.
