Canadians Online More Often Than UK, U.S.

Canadians spent 45.3 hours online in December, up 4% from a year earlier, an extra three minutes per day. That total is 17% more than the average hours Americans were online in December and 28% more than the average in the UK.

Social media were the force behind the jump, up 32%, with the 18 - 24-year-old bracket up most, at 67% to an average of 10.8 hours a month. The next largest increase was among users older than 55, who spent 5.4 hours on web sites like Facebook and Twitter, up 46%.

Women, on average, spent 8.8 hours a month on social networks compared to 6.5 hours among men.
