Facebook Trials 'Pay-To-Promote' In New Zealand

The system, which is currently being trialled in New Zealand, offers users the chance to ‘highlight an important post’ for a mere $2 (£1.25) and offers PayPal or a credit card as a payment option. However, Facebook users across the region have seen the feature at a range of different price points, including offering the service for free. By choosing to highlight a post, the post in question is given a yellow background. This also applies to status updates and picture posts.
