Report: Online Retail Tops $8 Billion Last Month

Online consumer spending jumped to $8.8 billion excluding travel last month--representing a 19 percent year-over-year increase from November 2003, according to the Goldman Sachs, & Co., Harris Interactive, and Nielsen//NetRatings' Holiday eSpending Report released Monday. Adult consumers spent $1.5 billion buying clothing online, $1 billion purchasing toys and video games, $882 million on videos and DVDs, $621 on books, and $481 on music, according to the report, which was based on weekly surveys of more than 1,000 respondents.
