Allrecipes Magazine LaunchesAllrecipes, Meredith Corp.’s new food magazine based on the popular Web site of the same name, launched this week with
an initial rate base of 500,000, making it one of the biggest new magazine launches in recent memory. The magazine will publish six times a year with a cover price of $4.99 and a subscription price of
$12 per year.
Editorial features in the premier issue of
Allrecipes include a guide to holiday cookies featuring top-rated recipes from the site; an international holiday
food trend report on popular dishes served around the globe; top-10 list of popular food gifts, including packaging suggestions; a “Cooking School” section with a how-to guide for prime
ribs, also featuring instructional webisodes from the Allrecipes Test Kitchen; a “Comfort-Food Face Off,” with dueling healthy and not-so-healthy recipes for seasonal favorites; and a
section called “Allrecipes Superstar,” spotlighting the brand’s most popular recipes and the cooks who created them.
On the advertising front, the premiere issue
includes ads from General Motors, GEICO, Nestlé, Bed Bath & Beyond, P&G, ConAgra, and Domino.
Meredith is also launching a new Allrecipes-branded TV segment as part of
"The Better Show," its nationally syndicated TV program, which airs in over 160 markets and reaches 90 million homes through the Hallmark Channel.

Adweek, which first reported the news. Time Inc. execs tell
Adweek that
InStyle has already sold two ads for its Flipboard edition --
including one by Gucci -- and
People is finalizing a deal of its own.
Seventeen Unveils Bedding Line at Macys.com This
week
Seventeen magazine revealed a new line of “fashion-forward” bedding for younger female consumers at Macys.com, featuring three sets of patterned sheets, comforters and
pillows, ranging in price from $80 to $200. The styles include Chloe Garden, with a whimsical floral design; Ikat Vintage Ombrea, with a more Bohemian -- sorry, Boho -- feel; and Silvana Sunset, a
vivid option “for that outgoing gal.”
Guns & Ammo Editor Quits Over Op-Ed Guns &
Ammo Editor in Chief Jim Bequette is resigning after allowing the publication of an op-ed column advocating some gun control measures that stirred outrage among the magazine’s readers.
Contributing editor Dick Metcalf, who wrote the column, is also leaving the magazine. Bequette announced his resignation in letter posted on the Web site, where he also apologized to readers for
publishing the op-ed and reaffirmed the magazine’s commitment to protecting Second Amendment rights.
Beinart Joins Atlantic Media Peter Beinart
has joined Atlantic Media as contributing editor for

National Journal, effective in January 2014. In his new role, Beinart will contribute
regularly to
National Journal's magazine and to TheAtlantic.com, and will also participate in AtlanticLIVE and National Journal LIVE events. Beinart joins Atlantic Media from

Beast, where he was a senior political writer and editor of the Open Zion blog. He is also an associate professor of journalism and political science at the City University of New York. He
was editor of
The New Republic from 1999-2006.
Time Out Names Silverman CRO Wayne Silverman has been
named chief revenue officer of Time Out North America, where he will oversee digital and print advertising sales, account management, ad operations and e-commerce. Silverman previously served as CRO
at native ad platform Dailybreak. Before that, he was CRO at mobile marketing platform Scanbuy and vice-president and group publisher at CBS Interactive (formerly CNET Networks)
