Multichannel Ad Tech Platform 1pel Appoints Carter As COO

Digital ad platform 1pel -- with “pel” serving as a substitute for “pixel” -- on Wednesday announced the appointment of Steve T.A. Carter as chief operation officer. The 1pel platform, which is focused on serving the entertainment industry, has been in private beta for 18 months, per a release, with a new version expected to launch in early 2015.

Carter has held leadership positions at Visible Measures, Tremor Video and Specific Media, among others. He was most recently SVP of media platform and operations at WildTangent.

Carter will manage 1pel’s operations and strategy, according to a release. The company claims its platform taps into multiple supply-side platforms (SSPs) and ad exchanges and also has an internal data management platform (DMP), tagging system and creative approval platform.

In a prepared statement, Carter said he was drawn to 1pel because of its focus on working with agencies and advertisers in the entertainment industry; the company claims to work with the likes of SME (Sony Music Entertainment), Columbia Records, RCA Records, Sony Masterworks, Epic Records, Legacy Recordings and Arts Alliance.
