Vanity Fair Deputy Editor Hutton Exits Magazine After 17 Years

Punch Hutton, Vanity Fair’s deputy editor, is leaving the magazine after 17 years.

According to a report from WWDVanity Fair editor Graydon Carter sent out an e-mail to staff Wednesday announcing the news. “After 17 enormously successful and Fanfair-filled years with Vanity Fair, Punch has decided she wants to make a change and move on once she has closed the April issue pages,” he wrote.

Hutton joined Vanity Fair in 1998 as Carter’s assistant. Hutton was editor of the “Fanfair” section and re-introduced the magazine’s party pages in the “Fairground” section.

“Punch wants to pursue new creative challenges, wherever they may be,” Carter continued. “I fully expect that she will be as successful in this new chapter of her life as she was in her Vanity Fair one.”
