Toy Maker Pays To Settle Charges It Invaded Children's Privacy

The maker of an Internet-connected toy agreed to settle FTC charges that it not only collected personal information on children without their parents’ consent but it also allegedly failed to protect the data and a hacker gained access to that information in 2015. For its part, VTech Electronics says it did notify parents. But it paid the FTC $650,000.
