'Crain's Chicago Business,' David Manilow Team For Food Coverage

“Crain’s Chicago Business” is enlarging its lifestyle coverage by teaming with David Manilow, creator of public TV’s food show “Check, Please!”

Manilow, who ran on WTTW in Chicago for 19 years, has switched mediums, reports Robert Feder.

He will now appear on “Crain’s Daily Gist” podcast on Wednesday, hosted by Amy Guth. The show streams Monday through Thursday.

The well-known foodie will cover restaurant openings and closings in the Windy City, as well as interview a popular chef each week. This week, Manilow spoke to Larry Tucker of Crazy Bird Chicken.

Jim Kirk, group publisher of Crain Communications and executive editor of Crain’s Chicago Business, said: “We are thrilled to partner with David on this and expect that these conversations with Amy will be a hit with our readers. David’s creativity and success with ‘Check, Please!’ made this partnership a natural for us. We’re eager to see how this will evolve.’’

“Check, Please!” went into reruns when the pandemic began in March 2020. In August, Manilow said the show would not return for a 20th season.
