The Guardian Sees Revenue Boost Over 2022

The Guardian has posted a 3.4% revenue jump YOY to £264.4 million, according to Guardian Media Group plc.  

This includes a 17% increase in international revenues YoY to  £93.2 million. International now accounts for 35% of revenues overall.  

In addition, digital revenues grew by 7.6% to £81.9 million, and now account for 70% of total revenues, versus 66% in 2022. Over 50% now comes from outside the UK.  

Earlier this year, GMG announced a three-year strategy to further build the Guardian’s position as one of the world’s leading quality news publishers. 

“The Guardian is becoming a truly global news organization with more than one million paying digital supporters in addition to our print subscribers and one-off contributions,” says Anna Bateson, chief executive of the Guardian Media Group.

Bateson continues, “In a difficult economic climate, we have continued to invest in quality journalism and in our digital business capabilities to advance this strategy which has brought revenue growth and a continued rise in digital reader revenues from across the globe.”

GNM publishes theguardian.com. Traffic from outside of the UK now accounts for around two-thirds of the Guardian’s total digital audience. 

In the UK, GNM also publishes the Guardian newspaper six days a week, The Guardian was first published in 1821. GNM also publishes and the world’s oldest Sunday newspaper, The Observer.
