Popeyes Crashes 'Wing Party' With Permanent Addition Of Wings To Menu

After years as the leader of the pack in the chicken sandwich wars, Popeyes has finally thrown its hat into the chicken wing ring.

Following months of testing in various markets, Popeyes has announced the permanent introduction of Wings to menus nationwide.

“At Popeyes, we like to challenge the status quo and are consistently redefining what’s expected from fast food brands,” said Sami Siddiqui, president of Popeyes North America in a release. “Ghost Pepper Wings were an overnight success, followed by the addition of Sweet ‘N Spicy wings, our best performing product since the infamous Chicken Sandwich. “

The new wings are available in five flavors: Honey BBQ Wings, with tamarind, honey and smoky molasses flavors; Roasted Garlic Parmesan; Signature Hot, which are tossed in Popeyes’ Cajun hot sauce; Ghost Pepper Wings, marinated in a dry spice blend; and Sweet ‘N Spicy Wings, tossed in a blend of chili, garlic, and ginger.

The wings launched with a TV effort, seen here, with the statement “After 51 years, Popeyes is crashing the wings party.”

The campaign also promotes the launch with Popeyes “DISScount” codes, which can be entered on the Popeyes app or at Popeyes.com. With snarky prompts like STOPWINGS, NOTTHATWILD, OPENSUNDAY and ONLY1WINGSFLVR, the digital codes give customers a free six-piece order of Wings with a $10 minimum purchase beginning this week. Popeyes has also placed outdoor ads near competitor restaurants, encouraging potential consumers to rethink their wing choices.
