Topo Chico, Ben Schwartz Offer To 'Refresh Your Voicemail'

Topo Chico is offering to give consumers’ voice messages a branded refresh, with a little help from a comedic partner.

The hard seltzer brand has offered to revitalize a feature many users may have long left stagnant, offering to “rent out” their long outdated voicemail messages, in exchange for free Topo Chico. To participate, fans can visit the brand’s website and select from a number of voice message scripts, such as:

“Hello <name here>

For anyone under  legal drinking age who’s hearing this, what you’re listening to is a voicemail greeting.

It’s like a text you send with your voice.

For everyone else, might I recommend a Topo Chico Hard Seltzer? After you leave a message at the beep.”

The first 50 fans 25 or older to enter every weekday through May 13 will be awarded $36 in the form of a Venmo transfer or prepaid card -- roughly the cost of two Topo Chico 12-packs.

Topo Chico also partnered with actor/comedian, and “Parks & Recreation” alum, Ben Schwartz on a grand prize awarded to 10 fans: a personalized message greeting from Schwartz. A 30-second “Hello, You’ve Reached Topo Chico” online video features Schwartz introducing the promotion.

The sweepstakes is part of the “Hello Topo Chico Hard Seltzer” the brand’s new campaign and brand platform which marks the first work created in partnership with its new creative AOR, Mischief @ No Fixed Address.

“Hello Topo Chico Hard Seltzer” positions the brand as the missing ingredient to “refresh” situations where everything else is already ideal. The campaign features English and Spanish-language creative assets running across TV, online video OOH, social, and retail channels – including a 15-second launch ad. It arrives ahead of the busy summer season for hard seltzer and adjacent alcoholic beverage categories, and coincides with Topo Chico introducing its new Oasis Cherry flavor, as well as a new variety pack featuring a packaging refresh.

Topo Chico recently fielded an online survey of over 1,000 consumers 21 and older, which found that 76% of respondents don’t regularly update their voicemail recording -- with nearly half (46%) stating they haven’t updated it in years.
