Clergy Slam Wal-Mart For Lack Of 'Christian Values'

"Christian values" are being used in a TV ad--but this time the target is Wal-Mart. A TV spot by the union-backed group WakeUpWalMart.com shows a pastor asking if Jesus would shop there. Accompanying the spot is a letter to Wal-Mart CEO Lee Scott signed by more than 130 members of the clergy. They want the retail giant to provide a "higher standard for its employees and their families," which would reflect "the best of Christian values." Scheduled to run in 43 media markets, the ad repeats allegations that Wal-Mart has violated child labor, and that half of its 1.3 million American employees have no health insurance.
