Web search service Ask Jeeves Inc. posted higher revenues in the fourth quarter, helped by what the company said was an improved search engine. Ask Jeeves reported revenues of $31 million in the
quarter ended Dec. 31, a 58 percent jump compared to $20.2 million in revenues in the fourth quarter of 2002. Full-year revenues were $107.3 million in 2003, compared to $65 million in 2002. In a
statement, an Ask Jeeves executive said queries on its sites grew 38 percent year-over-year, which he attributed to improvements to Teoma search technology and a recent marketing campaign. Ask Jeeves
also provided upbeat guidance for the first quarter and full year revenues, expecting about $35 million in first-quarter revenues and $142 million for the full year 2004.
