Jupiter Media Metrix Settles Patent Lawsuit

NetRatings, Inc. and Jupiter Media Metrix, Inc. have settled Jupiter Media Metrix's pending patent infringement lawsuit against NetRatings. Under the terms of the settlement, NetRatings has acquired JMM's patents for computer use tracking for $15 million and granted JMM a non-exclusive, assignable license to use the patented technology in its U.S. internet audience measurement business until June 30, 2005. According to the license agreement, JMM will pay $5 million to NetRatings in installments. In a separate transaction, NetRatings today acquired JMM's contracts for European Internet audience measurement and certain related assets for $2 million in cash.
