Dell To Dwell With WPP, New Shop Will Handle $4.5 Bil Account

Computer retailing giant Dell Sunday said it is consolidating a multi-billion account at WPP Group, which will form a new agency to service the business. The account, which will bill an estimated $4.5 billion over three years, is projected to generate more than $100 million in revenues for WPP, which was a finalist with Interpublic for the business. Executives said it would take WPP six months for form the new shop. U.S. responsibilities for Dell's advertising had been split between independent Mother and Omnicom's DDB unit. Media was handled by Omnicom's Prometheus unit.
