Olevitch will serve as senior vice president, local media sales for the group, which has looked to expand its offerings off-air to include out-of-home and Internet properties--with the overarching goal to offer advertisers multiple touchpoints to reach consumers in a single market. The Local Media group also appears to be moving aggressively into the digital multicast arena, where new channels could open up more sales opportunities.
Olevitch will report to Mark Lund, executive vice president of sales in the local media operation.
NBC has 10 owned-and-operated stations, but is looking to sell its Miami and Hartford, Conn. outlets.
Lund said: "As we look to expand and diversify our group, Larry's expertise will play a vital part in identifying new business opportunities for the Local Media Division, helping to connect customers with our complete portfolio of media assets."
Olevitch has been vice president of sales with WTVJ since late 2003, and moved beyond his sales duties to oversee programming and syndication.
He previously worked in sales roles at stations in West Palm Beach, Fla. and Cleveland.
