Google accounted for 67.90% of all U.S. searches in the four weeks ending April 26, 2008, according to Hitwise.

Yahoo Search, MSN Search and Ask.com each received 20.28%, 6.26% and 4.17%, respectively. The remaining 45 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.4% of U.S. searches.

Search engines continue to be the primary way that Internet users navigate to key industry categories, according to Hitwise. Comparing April 2008 to April 2007, the travel, entertainment, business and finance, sports, online video and social networking categories all showed double-digit increases in their share of traffic coming directly from search engines.

Search engines accounted for 29% of visits to online video Web sites in April, while visits to social networking sites totaled 17% of visits online.
